About the Artist
Lynne has written orchestrations and arrangements for everyone from Chita Rivera, the New York Pops and Raul Esparza to Tony Award winner/Bon Jovi member David Bryan and the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. On Bway, she was music supervisor/arranger/orchestrator for Allegiance (starring George Takei and Lea Salonga), music director/arranger for Crybaby, and resident music supervisor for the Tony-award winning revival of Company. She was music director/arranger for the Off-Broadway hit Alter Boyz, for which she received a Drama Desk nomination for orchestrations. Lynne received a second Drama Desk nomination for The Extraordinary Ordinary (by Paul Loesel and Scott Burkell). Other recent credits as music supervisor include Tommy (Kennedy Center) and as orchestrator/music supervisor Snow Child (Arena Stage), Chasing The Song (La Jolla) and Life After (Toronto; The Old Globe). As a composer, credits include bare: The Musical (Off-Bway 2012), Postcard American Town (Rhinebeck Writers Retreat, San Diego State University New Musical Initiative Winner), Hot (Johnny Mercer Colony, Namt finalist) and Perpetual Sunshine and the Ghost Girls. Lynne teaches Musical Theatre Composition at the University of Michigan and looks forward to returning to Arena Stage summer 2021 for the East Coast premiere of Life After.

Grab a glass of wine and gather with friends on Zoom to learn about lyric writing from composer/lyricist and University of Michigan professor Lynne Shankel. In this 90-minute interactive class, you will study popular song forms to learn about the craft, then have the opportunity to write your own and share with your friends! A fun, collaborative evening!
$250 (up to 6 people) $30 for each additional person (up to 10 people max)
