  • About the Artist

    Jenny Male (she/her/hers) is a Certified Teacher with the Society of American Fight Directors and has served as the Fight Choreographer for such DC/Baltimore theatres as Arena Stage, Ford’s Theatre, Rep Stage, Constellation Theatre Company, Everyman Theatre, Factory 449, Washington Stage Guild, Adventure Theatre, Imagination Stage, and the Maryland Lyric Opera.  Jenny is a certified Intimacy Director with Intimacy Directors & Coordinators and is Resident Fight & Intimacy Director for Rep Stage.  In 2002, Jenny earned an MFA in Theatre Pedagogy with an emphasis in Movement & Fight Direction from Virginia Commonwealth University.   Jenny is Associate Professor of Theatre at Howard Community College.

  • Introduction to Intimacy for the Stage

    This one hour Zoom session will give an overview of the craft of intimacy choreography and how the work benefits actors, directors, stage managers, and the well-being and safety of all involved in live theatre. Issues covered include best practices in the industry, consent and acting exercises, building and maintaining a safe environment for dynamic storytelling, boundaries and check-ins, and the importance of closure and self-care. Participants must be at least 18 years old.

    Cost:
    $70 for an individual
    $150 for an organization/multiple individuals
