Foundation Support
Grants from foundations support Arena's dedication to American work through our main stage productions, new play development and Arena's Community Engagement division, which supports arts education, professional development, and community connection for thousands of learners across the Washington, DC area.
Depending on a foundation;s funding priorities, grants can be given for general operating expenses or earmarked for a particular initiative.
Arena would be happy to work with you to create a proposal that best fits the priorities and needs of both your foundation and Arena. For more information, please contact Abigail Cady, Associate Director of Institutional Communications, at 202-600-4050 or acady@arenastage.org.

Ways to Support
-
General Operating
General operating contributions for the theater help support the theater's full season of productions, artistic work, and educational programming. Contributions also help make theater affordable for all audiences by supplementing Arena Stage's discounted ticket programs for students, families, veterans, and those currently serving in the U.S. military, police, and fire departments.
-
Production Grants
Arena Stage's artistic seasons showcase a diverse range of world-class productions from Broadway-bound musicals to thought-provoking new works. Production grants support the development of new works and the revival of beloved classics for Arena's diverse annual audience of nearly 200,000.
-
Community Engagement Programs
Arena's Community Engagement programs serve approximately 8,000 students, learners, and community members through youth arts education, professional development opportunities, free community events, and partnerships with other organizations. We welcome foundation support for vital programs including:
- Camp Arena Stage
- Voices of Now
- The Allen Lee Hughes Fellowship
- Military Appreciation Night
- Free public workshops, panel discussions, and off-site activations in connection with Arena's productions
-
Named Space
Within the Mead Center for American Theater complex, there are many spaces available for your foundation to leave its mark on the theater. Please contact us for more information on naming opportunities.
