Arena Stage is excited to offer a variety of classes and workshops for youth and adults for all levels of experiences. Our programs aim to build confidence and offer a safe, supportive environment where participants can feel inspired and fulfilled.

Theater Educator Intensive: Voices of Now Devising Lab
Saturday, August 1 | 10:00AM–5:30PM | $225

A one-day professional development experience for middle and high school theater educators ready to bring student-centered devising into their classrooms.

Inspired by the collaborative process of Voices of Now, this hands-on intensive immerses teachers in a structured devised theater model that can be adapted for a wide range of classroom settings, ensemble levels, and student voices. Participants will experience the process both as creators and facilitators—building practical tools they can immediately implement with students.

Through ensemble-building activities, writing prompts, movement exploration, image work, and collaborative composition, educators will explore how devised theater can support student agency, community-building, social-emotional learning, and authentic storytelling in the classroom.

Participants will leave with:
• A clear, adaptable devising framework for middle and high school students
• Ready-to-use prompts, structures, and facilitation strategies
• Classroom applications for varying schedules, class sizes, and experience levels
• Strategies for fostering ensemble, participation, and student voice
• A sample unit outline and rehearsal process model
• Greater confidence leading collaborative creation work in educational settings

This intensive is designed for theater educators seeking practical, process-driven approaches to original student work—whether in a classroom, after-school program, or production setting. No prior devising experience required.

Youth & Family Classes

Teen Audition Workshop
Sunday, August 30 | 1:00–4:00PM | Ages: 13–18

Step into audition season with confidence! This supportive, hands-on workshop is designed to help teen performers build strong, effective audition skills in a focused and encouraging environment. 

Participants will explore key audition techniques, receive individualized feedback, and practice in a low-pressure setting that mirrors real audition experiences. The workshop will help teens choose and prepare material, make bold performance choices, and present themselves with clarity and confidence.

Whether preparing for school productions, community theater, or future opportunities, this workshop offers practical tools and guidance to help each performer feel ready to shine.

Kidchella
Get ready to kick off the morning in style with Kidchella, the ultimate 2-hour dance bash for babies, toddlers, and children up to 6 years old (and their grown-ups, of course!). It's a high-energy mix of funky beats, bubble-filled magic, and non-stop fun for the whole family.

Families are encouraged to come as they are and bring anything that helps them move—whether it's a favorite costume, a beloved stuffy, or just the best dance shoes. Whether attending for a playdate meet-up, a birthday bash, or a morning escape, Kidchella is the perfect spot for your family and friends to share smiles, moves, and enjoy quality time together.

Musical Theater 101: Auditions 
Wednesday, June 17 | 6:30–8:00PM | Ages: 18+
Learn from Chloe O. Davis (Choreographer) and David Holcenberg (Music Supervisor, Arranger, and Co-Orchestrator), part of the creative team behind CrazySexyCool, and experience a mock musical theater audition inspired by the music and movement of TLC! Gain practical tips on headshots, resumes, audition attire, vocal prep, and dance calls—with live coaching from industry professionals.
