Script Submission
We are no longer accepting script submissions. Arena Stage is working hard to develop more effective and impactful ways of supporting the nation’s playwrights than reading hundreds of plays each year that we have no means of supporting.
In 2010 we put five playwrights on staff and made commitments to develop and produce their work over the next three years. We also launched the American Voices New Play Institute to study and advance the infrastructure for playwrights and new plays. We are working through a set of commissioned projects that we also have committed to producing.
We recognize the importance of being current with new work and writers not currently served by these approaches, so we have committed Arena’s Artistic Development Team to being present at the major new play festivals and reading series around the country. Arena artistic staff also regularly serve on funding panels, reviewing hundreds of new play proposals each year. And we remain in close communication with the nation’s play development centers.
Thank you for your interest.
