Arena Stage, an award-winning regional theater now in its 59th season, seeks professional and energetic candidates for its Wig, Hair & Make-Up position. This hourly position runs August through June 2010 and is eligible for health and vacation benefits. The Wig, Hair & Make-Up position is responsible for all day-to-day functions of the Wig, Hair & Make-Up area, and reports to the Costume Shop Director.
Responsibilities:
Organize and purchase day- to-day wig area supplies, i.e. make-up, hair styling products, run Arena Stage performances, Advise actors on make-up application and hairstyles suitable to show design; apply make-up as necessary; apply wigs and style hair as necessary; maintain wigs and hairpieces according to Actors Equity Association standards; attend final wig/hair fittings to consult with wig and costume designer. This position will also be expected to be part of the show wardrobe run crew.
Requirements:
Must be able to run shows on an eight performance a week schedule. Knowledge of hair styling skills and demonstrated ability with both hair styling and make-up application; basic knowledge of prosthetic make-up techniques, basic knowledge of air-brush make-up techniques; wig making and ventilating skills; must be able to lift 50 pounds and go up and down stairs; cosmetology license a plus; computer skills. Valid driver’s license required. Overtime and weekend work required.
